The Chanticleer
Cuisine:  French
The Experience:  For those who live and vacation on Nantucket Island, the Chanticleer is known as a restaurant without peer. Certainly the setting is about as perfect as anyone could wish: multipaned windows looking out to gardens full of climbing roses and a delightful carousel horse. Established in 1970, the Chanticleer is still under the same Chef/proprietor, Jean-Charles Berruet and his wife Anne. Their very hard work, devotion to service and quality has placed the Chanticleer among the world's renowned restaurants. The cuisine is traditional French with an emphasis on local vegetables and fruits as well as products of the Sea. There is an amazing wine cellar, meticulously nurtured and added to over the years. The Chanticleer cellar boasts more than 40,000 bottles of French and California wines, with over 1,200 selections on the list.
