	Koh Samui & The Monkey is a hip Thai restaurant in SOMA that's decor balances modern American with ancient Siam. The dining room is set in a former warehouse with large industrial windows throughout the entire space. The tranquil setting is carefully watched over by a large, antique statue of Buddha. The distinctive menu features classic Thai food, as well as some unique dishes like pumpkin curry and is well complemented by a handpicked beer, wine and sake list. Recently well rated by Michael Bauer of the San Francisco Chronicle, this charming restaurant has been feasted in numerous media articles and TV shows. Thailand has never been conquered by another country; therefore, Thai food and Thai eating habits have developed quite uniquely and have not been heavily influenced by foreign cultures. I subsequently reserved a table at Koh Samui and The Monkey, based on the type of cuisine, the excellent reviews and value indications for this establishment. We were NOT disappointed! The restaurant was easy to find, we were promptly seated, the ambience was unique and aesthetically pleasing (check out the ladie's room), and the food was absolutely to DIE for! The service was impecable, we were promptly seated, the waitstaff bent over backward to make our expericence memorable and were extremely helpful in their recommendations. We really liked the hip, lively, trendy atmostphere, also. I would definitely go back to Koh Samui and the Monkey. Good food... Written by Rick H.
