Alison Becker Hurt ran two of the most respected and popular restaurants in the New York area - Alison on Dominick Street in Manhattan, and Alison by the Beach in Sagaponack, Long Island, and Alsion is her most recent. Alison grew up in New York City and was a working actor until moving into restaurant management, first at the Gotham Bar and Grill, then at Rakel before opening Alison on Dominick Street in 1989, and Alison by the Beach on 1996.

The wine list reflects an abiding interest in the development of wine with food. Alison and Michael believe that wine is an essential part of the dining experience, and to that end their waiters and waitresses are trained to recommend the nuances that different wines can bring to complement the Southwestern French food featured by Chef Robert Gurvich.
